How to Get the IP Address of Your Xbox One

Every Wi-Fi enabled device has a unique IP address so that data will be sent to the right place. Getting your hands on the IP address of your Xbox One is easy.

  1. First, you have to gain access to the console and turn it on.
  2. Then, you should make sure that the console is connected to your network.
  3. Open Systems and look for Settings.
  4. Choose Network then go to Network settings. From there, go to Advanced settings.

If you follow these steps correctly, you will be seeing the current IP address of your Xbox One on the right side of your screen. You can also see other information on the screen, like what port is being used.

Why Is the IP Address Always Changing?

If your Xbox One gets a new IP address every time it connects to your Wi-Fi network, this may be because of how your system is set up. This is not a significant problem, but if you want, you can set a static IP address for your Xbox One so that it will not keep changing.

If you get a static IP address for your Xbox One, you will be able to make advanced changes that will only apply to your console to your network settings. For example, you will be able to change the Network Address Translation (NAT) type, which can help you fix some Xbox One connection issues.

Connection issues can also be solved when you forward ports in your router's advanced settings. The ports that you usually need to forward are 3074, 80, and 53 for TCP and 4500, 3544, 3074, 500, 88, and 53 for UDP.

How to Make a Static IP Address for Your Xbox One

You can tweak some settings to make your Xbox One IP address a permanent one. This can be done through your router’s control panel. In cases where this is not possible, you can also set a static IP using the Xbox One.

  1. Go to System then click on Settings.
  2. Look for Network then click on Network settings.
  3. Then, Advanced settings and click on it.
  4. Look for the current IP address - write it down because you will be needing it later.
  5. After, go to IP settings. Change Automatic to Manual.
  6. Then, type in the IP address that your Xbox One currently has. Your Xbox One will always be using that IP address from now on.

Take note that you have the option to type in any address that you want. However, using what your Xbox One's current address is just safer because you know there will be no conflicts. An IP address must always be unique.

Why Should You Know your Xbox One IP Address

Streaming on PC

This information is useful if you plan to stream your Xbox One to a computer, but somehow, the console is not showing in the Windows 10 Xbox app. You will need to enter the IP address manually to connect the console.

Faulty voice chat/multiplayer

There are times when your voice chat or multiplayer fails due to the security settings of your router. When this happens, you need to know the IP address of your Xbox One console to fix it.

Private matches

If you want to create private online games or matches, the Xbox One IP address is needed to be able to play games that are only open to chosen individuals. For these invited players to play with you in these private matches, they should have the IP address of your Xbox One so that they can connect to your Xbox One directly.

As you can see, it only takes a few clicks and a few minutes of your time to get your hands on your Xbox One IP address. With this information, you will have no difficulty troubleshooting connection issues or setting up private games.
